Wooden Decking – Care, Costs, and the Best Wood Types

A wooden deck brings a piece of nature right to your doorstep – warm, lively, and beautiful. Bangkirai, larch, robinia, and thermowood offer different advantages in terms of durability, origin, and price. Crucial for longevity is a consistent maintenance routine: cleaning in spring, oiling, and removing leaves in autumn. The costs for material and installation vary between 45 and over 100 Euros per square meter, depending on the type of wood – an investment that pays off for decades with proper care.

A wooden deck is pure nature – warm, natural, and beautiful. But outdoor wood needs care. What do homeowners really need to invest to enjoy it for a long time?

Which types of wood are suitable for decking boards?

Bangkirai – the classic for outdoors

Very hard, dense, and resistant to moisture and insects. Durability 20–30 years. Price: medium to high.

Larch – local and sustainable
