Oak, Beech or Walnut – which type of wood is right for which room?
The type of wood is one of the most important decisions when buying parquet. It determines not only the look, but also the hardness, the intensity of care and the price.
Oak: The Classic
Oak is by far the most popular parquet wood in Germany. It combines hardness, stability and beauty. Brinell hardness approx. 3.7 – robust enough for all living areas. Suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens.
Ash: Light, hard and Nordic
Ash is lighter than oak with a finer grain. Brinell hardness approx. 4.0 – very robust. Ideal for modern, light living concepts and very suitable for underfloor heating.
Walnut: The Noble Wood
Deep chocolate brown color, fine grain, pure elegance. Brinell hardness approx. 3.5 – more sensitive than oak. Ideal for bedrooms, studies and representative rooms.
Beech: Inexpensive and underestimated
Light, even and inexpensive. Brinell hardness approx. 3.8. Reacts more sensitively to temperature fluctuations – less suitable for underfloor heating.
Bamboo: Not a type of wood, but a strong alternative
Extremely hard (Brinell up to 4.0+), sustainable and optimal for underfloor heating. Modern, linear and more moisture-resistant than most types of wood.
